Swahili songs have flooded the blog! 😁
It's actually a good thing. Because this is Kenya, and although we do use English, Kiswahili is our language too.
As such, we can anticipate that most of our songs will come written in Swahili.
That being said, I now feel at ease sharing with you this week's song! 😊
Ever since I actively started living out the Christian Faith.... (for all PKs- pastors kids - you can agree with me that there's this temptation to think that just because you are born into a Christian home, then you are automatically born again... Until at some point in life..... Story for another day )
As I was saying, ever since I actively started living out the Christian life, there's one word that has been on replay up to the nth time. I'm pretty sure it sounds more than familiar to you too.
Wait. Wait on the Lord.
So yeah that miserable, uncomfortable, sometimes painful word "wait" is one of God's most powerful tools to set us free ~ desiring God
Funny fact about us humans : you'd rather tell us Yes or No but not Wait.
When we are told to wait, we easily loose focus on what we want, we get overwhelmed with curiosity and wonder why we couldn't get a straight forward answer.
Let's bring it home... You are a guy who happens to like and fall in love with this gorgeous lady. You ask her out. You let your intentions known. She looks interested too. Then at the end of the coffee date, she simply says, " Thanks for the coffee and for making your intentions known, kindly let me think about it/pray about it and I'll be giving you feedback soon" ... Long story short she tells you to Wait
Some can be quite patient and actually wait for her answers, eagerly and faithfully.
Others will think to themselves "maybe she doesn't like me as much and since she didn't want to hurt me by saying No, she asked me to wait. So they wait half heartedly.
Others will remain forever quiet after that, probably because, they weren't really interested, it was a mind game for them and so off they go onto the next date.
Imagine, this is no different from how we behave when God asks and requires us to wait!!
We either wait patiently, half heartedly or take off with immediate effect to search for other means.
If only we learnt to embrace a Wait as warmly as we embrace a Yes, coz even a No may not receive such a warm embrace. Truth is; yes, no and wait are all God's good answers. Most importantly, they all work for our good.
See, God holds the bigger picture of our lives, He knows how it will play out eventually. Unlike us who only see as far as the moment we are living in.
The thing with waiting, it doesn't have a definite timeline it might be a few minutes, hours, a day, a week,  a month, couple of months, a year or a couple of years. But all periods of waiting require patience and unwavering Faith.
Again, remember with God one day is like a 1000 years and a 1000 years are like one day.
When we read the Bible, from the passages that talk about our patriarchs, like Abraham. We see God giving Wait as an answer. He didn't start with us millennials (who are apparently considered a microwave generation, we want everything ready, and as soon as we want it 🙆).
And we all know what happened when Abraham and Sarah decided to take their own route to finding a heir because they felt that God was taking too long.. Shortcuts are costly! Too costly!
I'm not oblivious of the things that we pray to God about;  spiritual growth, growing in our areas of serving, our talents, a job, good health, healing, peace, God fearing and loving wives /husbands, the fruit of the womb, peaceful coexistence with others... The list is endless.
God is not a man that He should lie. And as long as He made you that promise, then rest assured that He will fulfill it. Remember when He told Habakkuk to write down the vision?
Habakkuk 2:2 ~ And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables,
I tend to think it is because He knew that as humans we will most likely forget the promises He has made us, but when we note them down, they will serve as a solid reminder.
It may take longer than you are expecting, but it surely will come.
When you are about to give up, look for secondary sources of fulfilment, turn the pages, look at what you wrote back then and you will definitely be recharged to continue believing and waiting.
Most times when I'm tempted to give up or waiting on God, Isaiah 40:31 comes in so handy for me, I specifically love the Amplified Version:
But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired.
ISAIAH 40:31 AMP
Worshipping while you wait keeps you grounded and focused on He who holds you and who made you promises.
Challenging as it may be, be still and know that He is God.
Greatness awaits you on the other side of Waiting.
Also how amazing is it that today's Verse of the Day from the You Bible touches on The Wait, 🙌🙌
You are my hiding place and my shield; I WAIT for Your word.
PSALM 119:114 AMP
We call it God-incidence. When the Spirit is at work 🙌
In case you wonder how God speaks to people, here are two ways you'll learn today: His Word, a confirmation of that word from someone else (what most people refer to as coincidence).. But I believe with God, it's all planned out.. It just doesn't happen.
Hope this makes your spirit elated, like it makes mine. God is definitely on the MOVE.
Finally, this jam brings in an aspect of unity,  diversity and it's beautifully done  by a  combination of powerful women; Mercy Masika, Emmy Kosgei and Evelyn Wanjiru.
Cheers! 💕
